Tatweer Misr inks deal with Huawei to launch fully connected smart cities

Tatweer Misr has partnered with Huawei Technologies to provide sustainable and smart technological software solutions throughout Tatweer Misr’s projects.

Under the deal, Huawei technologies will deliver a variety of internet of things (IoT) -enabled software products and services, according to a statement.

So far, Tatweer Misr has invested over EGP 4.5 billion in smart solutions with the aim of cutting operational and maintenance costs by 30% and increasing energy consumption efficiency by 50%.

During the signing ceremony, the CEO of Tatweer Misr, Ahmed Shalaby, revealed that the company’s residential and tourism investments at its four projects amounted to EGP 57 billion. These projects, comprising of 125,000 residential units over a total area of 5.8 million square metres (sqm), are scheduled for completion in 10 years, Shalaby added.

Moreover, the company’s contractual sales have reached EGP 25 billion, including EGP 3.7 billion in the first half (H1) of 2020, the CEO revealed.

For his part, Huawei Northern Africa Enterprise Business Group’s President, Michael Li, said that with a presence in about 100 countries and regions, Huawei Technologies “has assisted more than 160 smart cities and is now supporting Tatweer Misr in securing its projects’ operations.”
