Trade Minister invites German companies to invest in Egypt

Minister of Trade and Industry Nivine Gamea extended an invitation to German companies to invest and do business in Egypt and overcome challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic halted supply chains from China and Asian countries and suspended production in some German factories, added Gamea during a plenary meeting with a German trade and investment delegation Monday, led by Board Chairman of the German Near and Middle East Business Association (NUMOV) Martin Herrenknecht.

The delegation is now visiting Egypt to hold meetings with senior Egyptian officials to probe the future of joint economic cooperation between the two countries and the development of German investments in the Egyptian market as well as a number of files of mutual interest.

Gamea asserted Egypt-Germany economic ties are deep-rooted, strategic and long-running.

The political leadership and government pay a greater attention to luring more German investments in the Egyptian market to capitalize on industrial expertise and German technologies in upgrading the Egyptian industry, according to her.

For his part, Herrenknechht said Egypt and Germany have strong and profound relations, pointing out to the important role of the Association in boosting economic cooperation with countries in the region in general and Egypt in particular.
