She made the remarks on Thursday while she was inaugurating “Ceramica Market” exhibition, which runs from Nov 4 to 7.

The event is the largest show for selling domestic and imported ceramics and porcelain. It also comprises a wide range of traders and importers.

Gamea added that the exhibition is aimed at developing the industry of ceramics, porcelain, sanitary ware and kitchens and increasing sales, as well as opening up new markets in Africa.

Some 35 major Egyptian companies specialized in manufacturing ceramics, porcelain, sanitary ware are taking part in the show, which is erected on an area of 8,000 square meters, the trade minister said.

She noted that the ceramic industry contributes to meeting the local market needs and boosting exports to foreign markets, given the high proportion of the local component, which makes up 90% of all products.

Gamea pointed out that ceramic exports to foreign markets reached around USD 92 million in the first nine months of 2021, while the exports of sanitary ware amounted to USD 122 million.
