Hitachi ABB Power Grids and Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric, will be establishing the new Delta Zone Regional Control Centre (DRCC) in Mansoura City in the Delta region, according to a press release.
The consortium of the two entities has been appointed by state-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), in a bid to improve the reliability and efficiency of the power network in the region.
The new system will allow monitoring, controlling, and optimising the electricity transmission grid, which will supply more than 26 million people.
The project is expected to be completed in 24 months.
Hitachi ABB Power earlier partnered with EETC to upgrade the Canal Regional Control Centre, which monitors the performance of the electrical network across the Suez Canal’s area, namely in Ismailia, Port Said, Suez, North Sinai, South Sinai, Red Sea, and Sharqeya (10th of Ramadan city), serving approximately 12 million citizens.
