Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose by 12.25% month-on-month (MoM) to 116.84 (initial) in March from 104.09 (final) in February, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The index of manufacturing beverages surged by 18.04% to 235.80 in March, compared to 199.75 a month earlier, on the back of increased demand in the summer season, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the index of manufacturing chemical materials and products advanced by 20.03% MoM to 116.85 from 97.35 in February.
On the other hand, the index of manufacturing of computers, electronics, and medical equipment declined by 20.77% MoM to 105.90 in March from 133.66.
In the meantime, the index of manufacturing other machinery and equipment fell by 7.31% to 192.68 in March from 207.86 a month earlier.
