Egypt expects $6bn tourism revenue in FY21/22

Egypt is expected to generate $6 billion in tourism revenues during fiscal year (FY) 2021/2022 with the gradual recovery of the tourism sector, according to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed.

Moreover, the government also expects generating $6 billion in revenue from the Suez Canal as well as $7.4 billion in foreign investments in the coming fiscal year, El-Saeed added.

The development plan targets an economic growth rate of 2.8% in FY20/21 and 5.4% in FY21/22 and an inflation rate of 5.6% in FY20/21 and 6% in FY21/22, she noted.

The unemployment rate is expected to reach 7.5% by the end of FY20/21 and 7.3% in FY21/22.
