Egypt’s industrial output surged to 942 billion Egyptian pounds ($59.8 billion) in the financial year that ended on June 30, Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea said on Tuesday.

In the 2018-2019 financial year, the industrial output was around 847 billion pounds, she added.
The industrial sector currently accounts for 17.1 percent of Egypt’s gross domestic product (GDP), Gamea said in a ministerial statement.
