Egypt’s exports to three Arab countries – Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq – have increased in 2021 and the first quarter of the FY 2021-2022.<\/p>\n
According to a\u00a0Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS)\u00a0report on Monday, Egypt’s exports to Bahrain hit $450.7 million in 2021, compared to $139.3 million in 2020,\u00a0an increase of 223.5 percent<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Egypt\u2019s imports from Bahrain in 2021 amounted to $466.5 million, compared to $261.7 million, an increase of 78.2 percent<\/p>\n
Trade exchange between Egypt and Bahrain surged 128.7 percent during 2021\u00a0to reach $917.2 million, up from\u00a0$401 million in 2020.<\/p>\n
The most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to Bahrain during 2021 were books, newspapers and pictures worth $387.1 million;\u00a0fruits worth $9.3 million;\u00a0machinery, appliances and electrical equipment worth $9.1 million;\u00a0mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation worth $7.3 million; and vegetables and herbs worth $6.2 million.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile,\u00a0the most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from Bahrain during 2021 were metal ores worth $296.4 million;\u00a0aluminum and its products worth $129.2 million;\u00a0iron and steel worth $21.8 million;\u00a0plastics and their products worth $4.1 million;\u00a0and copper and its products worth $3.7 million.<\/p>\n
According to CAPMAS, remittances from Egyptian expatriates in Bahrain recorded\u00a0$104 million during the fiscal year 2020-2021, an 18.5 percent decrease from $127.7 million in compared to\u00a0the fiscal year 2020-2021.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, remittances of Bahraini expatriates in Egypt amounted to $1.9 million during the fiscal year 2019-2020\u00a0compared to $1.8 million during the fiscal year 2020-2021, an increase of 1.2 percent.<\/p>\n
Bahraini investments in Egypt amounted to $160.4 million during the fiscal year 2020-2021, compared to $174.6 million during the fiscal year 2019-2020, a decrease of 8.2 percent.<\/p>\n
In the case of Jordan, Egypt’s exports to the Hashemite Kingdom increased\u00a0during the first quarter of 2022 to $198.9 million, up\u00a010.5 percent from the $180 million\u00a0recorded during the same period in 2021.<\/p>\n
Egypt’s imports from Jordan hit $62.5 million\u00a0during the first quarter of\u00a02022, up 51.2 percent from the $41.3 million recorded during the same period a year earlier.<\/p>\n
Trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan recorded $361.4 million during the first quarter of 2022, up from $221.3 million\u00a0during the same period of 2021,\u00a0an increase of 18.1 percent.<\/p>\n
The most important commodities that Egypt exported to Jordan during the first quarter of 2022 were mineral fuel, mineral oils and products of their distillation at\u00a0$56.9 million.<\/p>\n
Remittances of Egyptians working in Jordan recorded $774.2 million\u00a0during the fiscal year of 2020-2021, up from $678.5 million\u00a0during the same period of the fiscal year 2019-2020,\u00a0an increase of 14.1 percent.<\/p>\n
The value of Jordanian investments in Egypt was estimated at $56.7 million\u00a0during the fiscal year 2020-2021, down from $58.4 million\u00a0during fiscal year 2019-2020.<\/p>\n
CAPMAS also published a report on\u00a0trade between Egypt and Iraq.<\/p>\n
According to the report, trade exchange between Egypt and Iraq increased 14.1 percent\u00a0in the first quarter of 2022,\u00a0recording $147.3 million, up from $129.1 million\u00a0in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
Egypt’s exports to Iraq hit $141.8 million\u00a0in the first three months of 2022, up from $124.1 million\u00a0in the corresponding period in 2021.<\/p>\n
Egypt’s imports from Iraq also rose 11.3 percent to record $5.5 million\u00a0in the first quarter of 2022, up from $5 million\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n
CAPMAS had\u00a0issued a report\u00a0earlier on Monday\u00a0on the\u00a0UAE investments in Egypt, which leapfrogged by 169 percent during the first half of Fiscal Year 2021-2022, reaching $1.9 billion, up from $712.6 million during the same period in 2020-2021.<\/p>\n
The CAPMAS reports come at the leaders of UAE , Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq visit\u00a0Egypt to hold a five-country Arab meeting\u00a0with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in New Alamein city, in which they discussed ways to boost bilateral\u00a0relations and cooperation among them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
