{"id":325998,"date":"2022-08-17T11:15:17","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T11:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=325998"},"modified":"2022-08-17T11:15:17","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T11:15:17","slug":"egypts-cbe-governor-resigns-a-day-before-interest-rates-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2022\/08\/17\/egypts-cbe-governor-resigns-a-day-before-interest-rates-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt\u2019s CBE governor resigns a day before interest rates decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi accepted on Wednesday the resignation submitted by the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer and appointed him as a presidential adviser, according to a presidency statement.<\/p>\n<p>The new governor has not been announced as of yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The action comes a day before the meeting of the CBE\u2019s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), scheduled on Thursday, to review the key interest rates amid the ongoing global economic challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It also comes few days after a cabinet reshuffle took place on Saturday bringing about 13 fresh ministers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c I would like to thank President El-Sisi for supporting me throughout my term as the Governor of the CBE.
