{"id":325375,"date":"2022-05-10T11:21:02","date_gmt":"2022-05-10T11:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=325375"},"modified":"2022-05-10T11:21:02","modified_gmt":"2022-05-10T11:21:02","slug":"egypt-eu-sign-development-financing-agreements-worth-e138m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2022\/05\/10\/egypt-eu-sign-development-financing-agreements-worth-e138m\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt, EU sign development financing agreements worth \u20ac138m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Ministry of International Cooperation and the European Union (EU) signed on a number of development financing agreements worth \u20ac138m.<\/p>\n<p>The new agreements are within the framework of the Egyptian-European partnership; supporting Egypt\u2019s development efforts in various sectors, namely rural and community development, administrative reform, local development, environment, and health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The agreements included a \u20ac24m grant from the EU\u2019s Integrated Rural Development programme and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation to support Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. A \u20ac5 grant will also be directed to the Public Financial Management project with the Ministry of Finance. More \u20ac5 will go to the Sustainable Development Strategy and the Administrative Reform Plan to support the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Central Agency for Organisation Administration (CAOA), within the framework of \u201cEU Support to Enhanced Administrative and Public Economic Governance in Egypt\u201d programme, which will be implemented through the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An agreement for launching the \u201cDecentralization and Integrated Local Development with a Special Emphasis on Upper Egypt\u201d project was also signed, worth \u20ac7m in grants, within the framework of \u201cEU Support to Enhanced Administrative and Public Economic Governance in Egypt\u201d, which will be implemented through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in support of the Ministry of Local Development. A \u20ac14m grant for the \u201cEU Green \u2013 EU Support for Growth through Egyptian Environmental Networks\u201d programme was also signed, and will be implemented through the GIZ, to support the Ministry of Environment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is in addition to a \u20ac3m grant for the Community Development Program between the EU and the Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD) for the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA).
