{"id":321262,"date":"2021-02-27T09:20:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-27T09:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=321262"},"modified":"2021-02-27T09:20:00","modified_gmt":"2021-02-27T09:20:00","slug":"egypt-tops-africa-in-equity-deals-for-tech-startups-in-2020-information-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2021\/02\/27\/egypt-tops-africa-in-equity-deals-for-tech-startups-in-2020-information-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt tops Africa in equity deals for tech-startups in 2020: Information Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Egypt tops Africa in the number of equity deals for tech startups in 2020, according to The Egyptian cabinet\u2019s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) new info-graph.<\/p>\n<p>The infograph is based on the findings of a report titled \u20182020 Africa Tech Venture Capital\u2019 issued by Partech Partners in February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt saw a rise of 83 percent with 86 equity deals, putting it in the top spot in Africa, followed by South Africa with 72 deals, and Nigeria with 71 deals.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt also ranked third in the total volume of deals with investments amounting to $269 million, after Nigeria and Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt also acquired 28 percent of the investments directed to the continent&#8217;s fintech sector, about $21.8 million, as well as 50 percent of investments in logistics, mobility and educational technology.<\/p>\n<p>The value of investments in the health technology sector amounted to about $55 million, followed by the enterprise sector with investments of $42 million.<\/p>\n<p>The 2020 Africa Tech Venture Capital report monitors the digital and technological venture capital equity deals that exceed $200,000 in African startups, excluding grants, prizes, loans, conventional debt, venture debt, non-equity\/technical assistance, post-IPO, merger and acquisition deals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Egypt tops Africa in the number of equity deals for tech startups in 2020, according to The Egyptian cabinet\u2019s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) new info-graph.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":321263,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-321262","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
