{"id":320922,"date":"2021-02-04T09:11:15","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T09:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=320922"},"modified":"2021-02-04T09:26:07","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T09:26:07","slug":"egypts-food-industry-exports-to-germany-record-13-increase-in-11m-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2021\/02\/04\/egypts-food-industry-exports-to-germany-record-13-increase-in-11m-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt\u2019s food industry exports to Germany record 13% increase in 11M 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Egyptian Food Export Council (FEC) said that the country\u2019s food industry sector exports to Germany recorded about $83m between January and November 2020, according to its Deputy Executive Director, Tameem El-Dawy.<\/p>\n<p>This compared to the $73m recorded during the same period of 2019, he added<\/p>\n<p>In a virtual seminar, held to review opportunities for developing Egyptian food exports to Germany, El-Dawy said that the German market is one of the largest European Union (EU) countries importing Egyptian food products.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Germany is the third largest importer in all commodity sectors in the world, with a value of $1.236trn.<\/p>\n<p>The German market represented 6.5 percent of the world\u2019s total imports in 2019, and its total imports of food industries reached $70bn, he added.<\/p>\n<p>El-Dawy also said that the value of the sector\u2019s exports to the EU witnessed a growth of 6 percent during the first 11 months of 2020. In this time period, it recorded $448m compared to $424m in the same period of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>There has been a remarkable increase in Egypt\u2019s exports of food industries to Germany in the past four years, as it grew by 15 percent in 2017 to reach $58m. This was followed by a further rise of 23 percent \u00a0in 2018 to record $72m, and 7 percent in 2019 to reach $77m, El-Dawy said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite the extremely complex and difficult circumstances the world went through as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, the value of Egyptian food industries exports experienced an 8 percent \u00a0growth during 11 months of 2020 compared to their full value in 2019,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, 10 food products represent about 90% of the total Egyptian food exports to the German market, with a value of $73.9m in the first 11 months of 2020, foremost of which are frozen strawberries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>El-Dawy added that there are food products in German import items that have an alternative in Egyptian export products with a value worth $32m in 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Egyptian Food Export Council (FEC) said that the country\u2019s food industry sector exports to Germany recorded about $83m between January and November 2020, according to its Deputy Executive Director, Tameem El-Dawy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":319820,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[27,33],"tags":[68],"class_list":["post-320922","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-export","category-main","tag-egypts-food-exports"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
