{"id":319928,"date":"2020-12-14T09:38:36","date_gmt":"2020-12-14T09:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=319928"},"modified":"2020-12-14T09:38:36","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T09:38:36","slug":"moroccos-bank-of-africa-seeks-to-bring-indian-investments-to-morocco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2020\/12\/14\/moroccos-bank-of-africa-seeks-to-bring-indian-investments-to-morocco\/","title":{"rendered":"Morocco\u2019s Bank of Africa seeks to bring Indian investments to Morocco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Morocco\u2019s Bank of Africa, formerly known as BMCE Bank, signed a deal with Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) to back investments in both ways.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU was signed during a Webinar by representatives of the two banks who highlighted investment opportunities in innovative sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the video conference, Morocco\u2019s ambassador to India Mohamed Maliki highlighted the close political ties between Morocco and India and the growth in economic relations between them in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>He cited the growing cooperation in the fields of fertilizers which make up the bulk of Morocco\u2019s exports to India.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said, the full potential of bilateral trade is yet to be unlocked to reflect the close ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s Charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires in Rabat GK Pant cited the assets which make Morocco an attractive investment destination such as infrastructure, skilled labor and investment facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Head of state-owned EXIM Bank, Harsha Bangari said that the bank financed more than 60 Indian enterprises operating in the MENA region for an amount of $9 billion and looks to financing projects in Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of Africa has already set up a branch in Shanghai to promote Chinese investments in Morocco and Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Trade between Morocco and India grew from $973.2 million in 2009 to $2.1 billion in 2019 as Indian enterprises tap into opportunities in renewable energy, new technologies, automotive industry, fertilizers, agri-food and pharmaceutical industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Morocco\u2019s Bank of Africa, formerly known as BMCE Bank, signed a deal with Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) to back investments in both ways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":319929,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[22],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-319928","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-banking"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
