{"id":319905,"date":"2020-12-13T11:39:37","date_gmt":"2020-12-13T11:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/?p=319905"},"modified":"2020-12-13T11:39:37","modified_gmt":"2020-12-13T11:39:37","slug":"egypt-places-3rd-in-start-up-investments-in-mena-in-november-wamda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/egy-africa.com\/en\/2020\/12\/13\/egypt-places-3rd-in-start-up-investments-in-mena-in-november-wamda\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt places 3rd in start-up investments in MENA in November: Wamda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Egypt has placed third in the value of investments poured into start-ups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in November, recording $6.6 million (20 percent of total investments invested in MENA start-ups in the month), according to Wamda.<\/p>\n<p>Egypt and the UAE placed first equally regarding number of deals struck, reaching nine each out of 30 in November, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The report also revealed that investment in start-ups in the MENA region witnessed a 22 percent M-o-M drop in November, raising $37.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>The UAE placed the first with $16.5 million in investment (45 percent of the MENA total), while Saudi Arabia placed second with $8.7 million (35 percent of total investments), according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Wamda added that logistics and e-commerce startups accounted for the majority of investments, in number and value, saying that it mirrors the growth of online shopping amid the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Some 30 start-ups raised investment, two from crowdfunding (Egypt-based Argineering via Kickstarter and the UAE-based Fruitful Day via Eureeca).<\/p>\n<p>Wamda is a start-up accelerator that focuses on entrepreneurship ecosystems and tracking MENA start-up investment and deals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Egypt has placed third in the value of investments poured into start-ups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in November, recording $6.6 million (20 percent of total investments invested in MENA start-ups in the month), according to Wamda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":319906,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[26,33],"tags":[85],"class_list":["post-319905","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-invest","category-main","tag-wamda"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
