Egypt’s exports of chemicals rose by 35% in the first half (H1) of 2022, hitting $4.33 billion, compared to $3.21 billion in the same period in 2021.
Exports of the chemical sector dominated 22% of Egypt’s total non-petroleum exports, followed by construction materials exports, which accounted for 19% of total exports at $3.69 billion, according to data from the Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council.
Meanwhile, exports of fertilisers jumped by 54% yearly over the January-June period in 2022 to reach $1.48 billion, followed by plastics and inorganic chemicals exports, increasing by 12% and 148%, respectively annually in H1-21 to record $1.36 billion and $677 million, respectively.
