Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, discussed with Ambassador of Switzerland in Cairo Yvonne Baumann ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism and antiquities.
The minister began the meeting by stressing the close relations between Egypt and Switzerland in various fields, especially the field of tourism and antiquities. El-Anany noted that Swiss tourists were among the first tourists to visit Egypt after the resumption of tourist movement in July 2020, which indicates their confidence and their government’s confidence in the safety of Egypt as a tourist destination.
On her part, the ambassador congratulated the minister on the re-opening of Luxor’s Avenue of Sphinxes and the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade, and praised the efforts made during the past period to promote Egyptian tourism and antiquities.
The meeting also touched on supporting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of training workers in the field of tourism, managing hotels, restoration, museum management, raising tourism and archaeological awareness, and developing visitor services at museums and archaeological sites.
Additionally, the ambassador expressed her desire for one of the most famous Swiss painters to display his artworks in one of the exposed Egyptian archaeological sites.
