Egypt’s trade with Nile basin countries jumps 26% y-o-y in 9M

Trade exchange between Egypt and Nile Basin countries reported on Sunday a 26.4 percent year-on-year growth to $1.614 billion for the first nine months of the year, according to state-owned statistics agency CAPMAS’ latest report.

Earlier, the trade volume stood at $1.277 billion for the first nine months of 2020.

The ten Nile Basin countries are Egypt, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, , Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Egypt’s exports to the Nile Basin countries recorded $1.117 billion for the January-September 2021 period from $835 million last year, marking an increase of 33.7 percent, CAMPAS report read.

The total value of imports from Nile Basin countries reached $497 million from $442 million, marking a growth of 12.4 percent.
