Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad has met with German Minister of Environment Svenja Schulze and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways to support cooperation between the two countries in the field of environment.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the participation of the Egyptian Minister of Environment in the ministerial part of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow, the UK.
During the meeting, the German minister invited Fouad to participate in the climate dialogue in Germany.
Fouad explained that the political process of the climate negotiations is a very important matter. She also highlighted the need to re-communicate between ministers and climate negotiators in developing and developed countries and build confidence between them.
Moreover, the Minister of Environment indicated that the upcoming conference (COP27) in Egypt, will be an important opportunity to shift from the theoretical part to the procedures stage, and to consider the issue of adaptation and transform adaptation projects into projects subject to get financed by banks and the private sector.
Additionally, Fouad added that the upcoming COP27 climate conference would be an opportunity to reconsider the political process and the humanitarian vision of climate action, and to support the links between the conference participants.
