Egypt’s industrial production up 11.3% in Q2-20 – CAPMAS

The value of industrial production grew by 7.1% to EGP 333.5 billion during the second quarter (Q2) of 2020, compared to EGP 313.2 billion in the same quarter in 2019, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Meanwhile, the value of industrial production, excluding crude oil extraction and refining, reached EGP 182.2 billion in the April-June period of 2020, up by 11.3% from EGP 163.8 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier, data showed on Tuesday.

The value of petroleum refining and coke oven products contributed EGP 101.9 billion or 30.4% to total industrial production, while crude petroleum and natural gas extraction contributed EGP 51.6 billion or 15.4% during the three-month period.

Moreover, the value of food products rose by 13.8% to EGP 41.4 billion in Q2-20 from EGP 36.3 billion in Q2-19 and the value of manufacturing computers, electronic products, and medical equipment increased by 57.8% to EGP 3.8 billion from EGP 2.4 billion.
