Egypt’s food exports to Saudi Arabia hit $177m in seven months

Egypt’s food exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to $177 million in the first seven months of 2021, down by 9% year-on-year (YoY) from $194 million, according to a statement by the Food Export Council.

Over the January-July period of 2021, the number of companies exporting food industries to the kingdom reached 271, the statement showed.

Miscellaneous food preparations topped the country’s food exports to Saudi Arabia with a value of $38 million in the seven-month period, compared to $29 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Meanwhile, chocolate exports declined to $27 million from $32 million, while exports of grain-based foods surged to $14 million from $8 million.

Saudi Arabia topped Egypt’s market destinations for food exports in 2020, making up 9% or $308 million, down by 7% YoY from $332 million in 2019.
