Egypt’s exports to Romania jump 51% in H1-21

Egypt’s exports to Romania jumped by 51.1% year-on-year (YoY) to $100.4 million in the first half (H1) of 2021, compared to $66.5 million, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Wednesday, citing data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from Romania fell by 18.9% to $339.5 million in the January-June period, compared to $418.3 million in the prior-year period, data showed.

Bilateral trade between the two countries registered $439.9 million in H1-21, down by 9.3% from $484.8 million in H1-20.

Remittances of Egyptians working in Romania soared by 62.2% to $4.8 million in fiscal year (FY) 2019/2020, compared to $3 million a year earlier.

In the meantime, the remittances of Romanians working in Egypt declined by 36.2% YoY to $1.6 million in FY19/20 from $2.6 million.
