Egypt’s food exports to Iraq rose by 1% to $84.2 million in the first eight months of 2021, compared to $83.7 million in the year-ago period, according to the Deputy Executive Director of the Egyptian Food Export Council, Tameem El-Dawy.
Over the course of 2020, the country’s food exports to Iraq grew by 29% to $125 million from $97 million a year earlier, El-Dawy added.
Iraq was the eighth largest importer of Egypt’s food exports, making up 3.6% of total food exports which amounted to $3.5 billion last year, he noted.
Over the last four years, Iraq’s food imports from Egypt surged by 62.3% from $77 million in 2016.
