Forbes named Suez Canal Authority second largest logistics firm in MENA

Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has been chosen by Forbes among the top 10 largest logistics companies in the MENA region.

The SCA has come in the second position based on several criteria, including the size of the company in terms of assets, revenues, and market value as well as the percentage of trade enabled by the company, and its importance to the economy, in addition to the volume of goods transported or stored, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The Chairman of SCA, Osama Rabie, said that the ranking reflects the authority’s efforts to address many challenges amid the pandemic, including the crisis of the Ever Given vessel which ran aground and blocked the traffic in the waterway in March.

Each year, nearly 12% of the world’s trade passes through the waterway which has witnessed major developmental projects in the last years.

The list of the top largest logistics firms in the MENA region was topped by the UAE’s DP World and included Saudi Ports Authority and Oman’s Asyad Group.
