Trade Minister reviews final preparations for Egypt’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai

Egypt is looking forward to participating in the activities of Expo 2020 in Dubai, in a manner that reflects the ancient Egyptian civilization and future vision for development, according to Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The minister’s statements came during her inspection tour on Monday to check the final preparations for the Egyptian participation in Expo 2020 in Dubai.

The minister said that Egypt aims to present one of the most prominent pavilions and record a great turnout at the Expo, thanks to what Egypt enjoys with an ancient civilization and a well-established position in the region, as well as the sustainable development movement that Egypt has embarked on over the past few years.

She pointed out that all internal and external works at the Egyptian Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai have been completed, and the final touches have been put in place for the content that will be displayed in the Egyptian pavilion, in coordination with all ministries and relevant authorities, to reflect the weight and position of Egypt at the regional and global levels.

Gamea explained that the building of the Egyptian pavilion participating in the Expo reflects the Egyptian civilization and the most important features of the Egyptian personality throughout history, in addition to focusing on the future Egypt and the most important opportunities available to investors in all sectors, noting that the Egyptian pavilion will include good opportunities for holding meetings between companies with the aim of concluding commercial and investment deals.

The minister reviewed the latest developments related to the transfer of the Egyptian sarcophagus recently discovered in the archaeological site of Saqqara, which will be displayed in the Egyptian pavilion in the Expo to ensure the greatest possible turnout from the masses of visitors interested in antiquities and ancient Egyptian civilization.

For his part, Ahmed Maghawry, Head of Commercial Representation and General Commissioner for Egyptian participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, stated that it is scheduled to participate in a number of international events and activities during the expo’s duration of 6 months, which include topics related to cities and urban development, tourism, sustainable development, health, agriculture and improving the level of education, next to empowering women and youth.

He added that Egypt will have an effective presence during the Expo at the level of economic, commercial, and investment activities to review developments in this file in terms of the results of economic reform and mega projects, as well as the existence of opportunities for holding meetings between companies with the aim of concluding commercial and investment deals, which the ministry seeks to exploit.

Maghawry added that Egypt will be presented at the Expo as a distinct investment destination in the region because of its huge national projects in infrastructure and measures to attract foreign investments, smart cities and industrial zones, in addition to the economic zone of the Suez Canal, where the Egyptian pavilion is located in the opportunities area, which is considered the most important area of ​​the Dubai Expo.

The pavilion will also see 103 activities, including workshops, conferences, discussions, and meetings, along with nine exhibitions for antiquities, education, real estate investment, and handicrafts.
