Egypt is developing Alexandria Seaport with the aim of turning into an international hub for logistics and trade, the Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, was cited as saying by local press.
During President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Alexandria Seaport on Tuesday, the minister said that the development works of El-Dekheila and El-Max ports are scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
Once developed, Alexandria Port will be the largest in the Mediterranean Sea, El-Wazir noted.
This project is in line with the presidential directives for creating axes connecting between the maritime and dry ports and logistics centres, El-Wazir added.
El-Sisi directed the government to disburse compensations for citizens who will be evacuated due to the expansion works.
