Trade Minister orders restructuring Egyptian side of Egypt-Nigeria Business Council

Egypt has decided to restructure the Egyptian side of the Egypt-Nigeria Business Council, with the new members’ tenure extending for three years effective from the date of publishing the decision in the Egyptian Gazette, according to Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The Egyptian side was led by Walid Gamal El-Din, head of the Export Council for Building Materials and a board member of the Modern Company for Insulation Materials.

Gamea said, in a statement on Tuesday, that the Egyptian side would submit a semi-annual report on the efforts and activities of the council to the Minister of Trade and Industry, as well as its proposals and future plans for the development of common interests between the two countries.

The restructure step comes within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to increase the rates of intra-regional trade and joint investments between Egypt and Nigeria, in particular, and with the African continent in general. The new formation would include experts in the sectors that represent the main pillar of joint economic and commercial cooperation between Egypt and Nigeria.

The council’s members are: Ramy Galal, from the International Group for Modern Paints (MIDO), Tamer Younes, Procter and Gamble Egypt, Mohamed El-Sayed, Capsi Paints Co., John Bishai, Al-Sharq Trade and Industry Co., Omar Muhanna, Alexandria Tire Co., Khaled Saad, Al-Zamil Co. For steel structures, Ahmed El Sewedy, the United Metals Company, Ahmed El Bakri, the International Company for Insulation Technology “Insotech”, Hisham Al Banhawi, Nile Company for Insulating Materials “Betonil”, Hisham Abdel Hamid, United Company for Corn Products, Ahmed Mostafa, Dehydro Foods, Seham Abdel Megeed, Samsung Electronics Egypt, Ahmed Kilani, the Egyptian International Company for Pharmaceutical Industries (EPICO), Sherine Helmy, the Islamic Pharmaceutical Company “Pharco”, and Maged George, Mamiba Egypt for Cosmetics.
