Egypt’s food exports have surged by 14% or $297 million during the period from January until July 2021, according to a statement by Food Export Council.
The country exported food products worth $2.384 billion in value at the end of July this year, compared to $2.086 billion in the same period in 2020.
The month of March witnessed the highest value in food exports of $384 million during the seven-month period until July.
In July alone, Egypt exported food products worth $287 million, up by 8% when compared to July 2020.
The Arab countries topped the list of the international groups importing food from Egypt at a value of $1.268 billion in the January-July 2021 period, representing 53% of the total exported food products in Egypt. The European Union (EU) followed with goods worth $391 million.
Saudi Arabia was the main importer of Egypt’s food products until July 2021, with a value reaching $177 million, followed by the US and Libya with $129 million and 116 million.
Sudan has also imported food worth $112 million from Egypt during the seven-month period this year.
