The Egyptian exports to the French market witnessed a significant increase by 21%, reaching €350m during the first half (H1) of this year, compared to about €288m during the same period in 2020, according to Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea
Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from France decreased by 9% to €913m in H1 of 2021, compared to about €1.5bn during the same period last year.
Gamea said that these trade exchange figures contributed to a 21% decrease in the Egyptian trade deficit with France during H1 of 2021.
Ahmed Maghawry, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS), explained that this tangible development in the trade movement between Egypt and France came within the framework of the ECS’s efforts to support the Egyptian exports in accordance with the strategy of the Ministry of Trade and Industry for fiscal year (FY) 2020/21.
Maghawry added that the most prominent sectors that contributed to the increase in the Egyptian exports to France included: fertilizers and nitrogenous materials by €58m (3.5%), organic chemicals by €38m (26%), and household appliances by €26m (35%).
Other products were: electrical conductors and ignition wires used in the automobile industry, ready-made garments and textiles, plastics, canned fruits and vegetables, citrus, and plastics used in construction.
