Egypt’s unemployment rate eased to 7.3 percent in the second quarter of the year from 7.4 percent in the first quarter, state statistics agency CAPMAS said on Sunday.
The number of unemployed stood at 2.115 million out of a total workforce in the April-June period, from 2.155 million in the January-March period, CAPMAS said.
The total number of employees fell by 0.6% to 29.115 million in the April-June period, compared to 29.284 million in the January-March period, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Sunday.
The urban labour force stood at 12.981 million individuals, while the rural labour force reached 16.134 million.
Male employees registered 24.233 million, whereas female employees amounted to 4.882 million.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed people recorded 2.115 million in Q2-21, down from 2.155 million in Q1-21 and down by 17.8% from Q2-20.
