Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops increased by 10% year-on-year (YoY) to $2.215 billion in the first 10 months of the 2020/2021 season, compared to $2.013 billion.
The volume of agricultural exports reached 3.971 million tonnes from September 2020 until June 2021, an increase of 5.7% YoY from 3.755 million.
Arab countries were the largest market destination for Egypt’s agricultural exports with $741 million for 1.614 million tonnes, followed by European countries outside the European Union (U) with $570 million, and the EU countries with $555 million.
Citrus topped Egypt’s agricultural exports with a value of $843.155 million, while exports of potatoes reached $200.731 million and fresh onion $95.676 million.
Russia was the largest importer of Egypt’s agricultural crops with a value of $307 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with $252 million and the UAE with $116 million.
