The Agricultural Bank of Egypt (ABE) has installed 750 ATMs in villages and rural areas over three months.
The bank is planning to install a total number of 1150 ATMs by October.
In a record time the bank has succeeded in installing the ATMs when compared to the challenges and obstacles it has faced.
ABE Chairperson Alaa Farouk stated that the bank is working to deploy ATMs across the country, especially in Egypt’s rural areas.
This aims to facilitate its customers’ access to all banking services and financial transactions, whilst facilitating cash withdrawals and deposits.
It takes into account the geographical distribution of these machines across Egypt, giving priority to areas with a high density that lack banking services.
He also added that ABE is aiming at increasing its ATMs across Egypt’s villages and rural areas as part of the CBE’s initiative to expand ATMs throughout the country.
Farouk also noted that the bank’s ATMs recorded high rates of withdrawals and financial transactions during the June 30 revolution anniversary holiday.
The total number of transactions carried out through the ATM network amounted to about 169,000 withdrawals and inquiries during this day as well, which is considered one of the highest rates compared to the number of ATMs, and the number of transactions recorded by ATMs during the Eid Al-Adha holiday reached 819.
Farouk pointed out that the ABE gives priority to installing ATMs in villages included in the first phase of the presidential “Decent Life” initiative to develop Egypt’s rural areas.
He explained that all the bank’s ATMs are equipped with the latest technologies to provide a wide range of transactions, self-banking, and financial services. This helps give the bank’s customers the flexibility to conduct many banking operations.
