Egypt’s engineering exports surged by 72% year-on-year (YoY) to $205.5 million in May, compared to $119.4 million, according to a report released by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt .
Over the first five months of 2021, the country’s engineering exports jumped by 53% to $1.17 billion from $700 million in the corresponding period in 2020.
As for the first 11 months of the fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021, exports of engineering products increased by 25.4% to $2.52 billion, compared to $2 billion in the year-ago period.
Exports of electric devices rose by 2%, car components by 41%, cables by 44%, and homes appliances by 46% during the 11-month period.
Top market destinations for Egypt’s engineering exports include the UK, Turkey, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Kenya, Tunisia, and Togo.
