Egypt invests EGP 35.3bn in developmental projects in Cairo

The Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, announced the completion of 585 developmental projects in Cairo at a total cost of EGP 35.3 billion during fiscal years (FY) 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

The projects are established in six sectors, namely housing, electricity, transportation, irrigation, local development, and education, El-Saeed said in a statement on Sunday.

The country established six water and irrigation projects at a cost of EGP 81.5 million and 95 education projects at a cost of EGP 665 million.

As for the local development sector, the ministry invested EGP 186 million in 73 electricity and lighting projects, EGP 2 billion in 128 roads, bridges, and tunnels, and EGP 1.3 billion in 101 security, traffic, firefighting, and local unit support projects.
