The Egyptian government was directed by the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday to start building a leather tanning factor, the largest of its kind in the Middle East in terms of size and advanced industrial technology, said Egyptian Presidency Bassam Radi in a statement.
The factory also will recycle leather waste and converting it into organic fertilizers and environmentally friendly products, in partnership with the Italian expertise, Radi added.
The President was also briefed on the details of this mega project and its feasibility studies, Radi said, noting that this project will be an added value to other industrial areas in the field of leather nationwide as it will contribute to the safe disposal of waste resulting from the leather industries by recycling them.
The meeting was attended by Major General Walid Abul-Magd, National Service Projects Organization of the Armed Forces, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Piel Color” Company for Tanning and Finishing Leather Hesham Gazar, and Sayed Farag, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Shoeroom” Company.
