Egypt, UNIDO sign PCP cooperation agreement

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong signed on Wednesday a UNIDO Program for Country Partnership (PCP) agreement.

In a video conference, the prime minister said the signing of the agreement is a further step down the road towards consolidating cooperation between Egypt and the UNIDO, with a view to promoting coordination with the UNIDO’s PCP to strike overall sustainable industrial development.

Madbouly cited the great success that all the countries that have already joined the program have achieved in industrial development.

He reiterated Egypt’s keenness to foster the industrial sector; being a key factor in realising economic development and ameliorating the investment atmosphere, in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision.

Madbouly further highlighted measures Egypt has adopted to overcome the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The PCP rests on a multi-stakeholder partnership led by the host country.

For his part, Li said the signing of the agreement comes to crown arduous efforts on the part of the UNIDO and Egypt over the past years.
