Egyptian President directs for continued comprehensive development in Sinai

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has directed for the continuation of comprehensive development efforts in the Sinai Peninsula.

As part of these efforts, the President also directed for the latest irrigation methods to be applied to maximise water use in the region.

He also directed for the area of agricultural lands to be increased to establish developmental and residential areas, to integrate with the state’s strategy to expand integrated agriculture and land reclamation nationwide.

Al-Sisi’s directives came during a high-level meeting, on Monday, with: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly; Sherif Ismail, Assistant President of the Republic for National and Strategic Projects; and Mohamed Abdel Aaty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, among other officials.

The meeting reviewed “the executive position of the national project for reclamation of agricultural lands in Central and North Sinai”.

In this context, the President’s directives were particularly aimed at land reclamation projects, which look to increase the amount of agricultural lands in central and northern Sinai, and establish residential communities.
