Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate increased by 0.6 percent month-on-month (MoM) to 110.9 points in March, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Thursday.
The rise in inflation rate happened due to an increase in prices of fruits by 7.1percent, meat and poultry by 3.7percent, oils and fats by 0.9percent, grains and bread by 0.5 percent, and dairy and white cheese by 0.5percent.
On the other hand, the prices of ready-made garments fell by 1.1percent and transportation services dropped by 0.4percent.
However, annual inflation rates registered 4.8 percent in March, compared to 4.6 percent in the same month a year earlier.
