Egypt, Marriott International discuss establishing 3-, 4-star hotels in new tourist cities
Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled Al-Anani met with Satya Anand, President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Marriott International, to discuss establishing three- and four-star hotels in Egypt’s new tourist cities.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed a number of other issues related to the tourism and hotel sector in Egypt.
Anand reviewed the company’s policy regarding the expansion in the numbers of its hotels. This includes its current approach and desire to establish three and four-star hotels aimed at different social segments, as well as providing various services.
He said that the company is implementing its hospitality training improvement programme in Egypt, with the aim of improving the skills-set of the local community.
The programme aims to help graduates into the workforce, and provide Egypt’s hotel sector with trained employees. This is to take place through training students and adopting a specialised approach to leadership professions in hospitality.
For his part, Al-Anani welcomed the company’s establishment of hotels, saying that more hotel facilities could be established in a number of tourist hotspots in Egypt, such as Aswan, the North Coast, and New Alamein City.
This will come as part of the Egyptian state’s policy to develop the tourism infrastructure in tourist cities and new cities.
The Minister said that the Egyptian state spares no effort in promoting the country’s tourism sector, and provide facilities for investors in this field.
Anand noted that Egypt has much potential in terms of its tourism, as well as archaeological and natural wonders. He said that this ensures Egypt’s popularity as a tourist destination, and that he will make a number of visits to tourist and archaeological sites as part of his visit to Egypt programme.
Marriott International is a diversified US hospitality company that manages a wide range of hotels and resorts, including more than 25 hotels across Egypt.
