The Zambian cabinet has approved the establishment of another multi-facility economic zone by a Chinese enterprise, a government spokesperson said.
Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya said the decision was made during the 27th Cabinet meeting held on Monday.
She said the multi-facility economic zone will be established in central Zambia’s Chibombo district by Jiangxi United Industries Limited with a focus on creating manufacturing industries such as textile and apparel manufacturing plants.
Meanwhile, electronic manufacturing, building materials, scientific research facilities, and an agricultural activity area are also expected in the economic zone.
Currently, Chinese firms have already established and invested in two multi-facility zones, situated in Chambishi town in the Copperbelt Province and Lusaka, the country’s capital, respectively. Chinese companies at the two facilities have also created thousands of jobs for the locals. Enditem
